Life is a beautiful journey, on the way to fulfilling, what is your destiny. Choices are the freedom that we are given and the lessons that we learn from, most important, the stories that define who we are. The greatest gift is that you get to choose your story. Travel it Well. Be Well. LOVE.

I grew up in Michigan, loving and living in Nature. I wanted adventure and to travel, learn about places, people and things I had never seen. I joined the Navy as a Linguist and traveled to Orlando, Florida; Monterey, California; San Angelo, Texas; Colon, Panama; and finally to Columbia, Maryland.
From Columbia, Maryland, I worked at the National Security Agency, and volunteered in the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Detail. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts/Photography, from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. After having my beautiful son, I decided to leave the Navy and work in a profession where I could have more time with my son. I decided to explore a career as a teacher, beginning as a Spanish teacher in a private preschool. I discovered that diet, nutrition, sleep and lifestyle had a huge impact on the lives of children, their families. At this point, I was so interested in the connection of diet and lifestyle with WELL-BEING and I felt like Western Medicine, although wonderful, did not have all the answers that I felt were in the rhythms of our daily life.
This led me to the Tai Sophia Institute, now the full fledged Maryland University of Integrative Health. I was captivated the moment that I stepped through the doors. A place of profound learning. Of the highest importance, Tai Sophia Institute gave me a profound thirst for learning and seeking more and more learning. Any institution, can only pick one starting point, and they must keep it linear in order that it be organized and compatible to the community. It is up to the individual to take off and explore all that is possible to learn, to ask questions, to be skeptical. to be the student, the beginner, always curious. always willing to learn.
While attending acupuncture school, I had the serendipitous luck to apply for a part time job in an integrative medical practice. A new world opened up for me, a place where western medicine integrated with other holistic healing modalities. Developmental Pediatrics, Energy Healing, Functional Medicine, Play therapy, Chiropractic care, Acupuncture, Naturopaths, Cranial Sacral Therapy, a Pharmacist that also uses herbal compounds, foods as medicine, vitamins, minerals and has a full blown compounding Apothecary.
This is where I opened my first acupuncture practice and half of my clients were children. I specialized in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers, ADHD/ADD and other developmental issues. Once again, food as medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle were a major influence on my clients. Fortunately, I was in the perfect location to explore all of these issues. It was the biggest blessing.
Always challenging myself and pushing my comfort level, I decided to stretch my knowledge and experience.
Life is about change, movement, growth. I started studying Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida.
Tai Sophia Institute and the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture are both known to be Five Element Style Acupuncture Schools and owe their roots to the teachings of J.R. Worsley. J.R. Worsley is best known for bringing Five Element Acupuncture or Classical/Traditional Acupuncture to the West.
Finally, I relocated to Tampa, Florida and began mentoring with Mary Riggin the founder of Healing Touch Oriental Medicine and the Florida Society for Doctors of Oriental Medicine. I continue to work and mentor under Dr. Riggin, and we have branched off, now working in Wendyfit Yoga Studio. Where yoga and acupuncture come together to create amazing healing and well being.
I am now inspired to reach out to the community, to reach those who may not be aware of the profundity that Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine can offer. This medicine is about you listening to the rhythms of your body, listening to the biorhythms of nature around us. Waking up and tuning in to the energy constantly flowing keeping everything moving. Yin into Yang, night into day, summer, late summer, fall, winter, spring. Heaven and Earth, day and night, life and death. Fire, earth, metal, water, wood. Oxygen moving blood, giving life. Water flowing in and out of our cells, bringing in nutrients and carrying away that which no longer serves. Ebb and Flow, waves of energy, fluid, substance. o2h2o.
